Was really excited to attend Social Media Week London. Firstly as I love the BFI building, second as with the optimism of a child on his first day of a new school year, was hoping to take away something to inspire my social media campaigns over the coming months.
First off, they offer an on demand service called Social Media Week Insider that allows you to watch their worldwide content from the days on a 3 month subscription. Free if you attend (for 3 months) and at set fees for subscriptions. Worth checking out if you can’t make the conference. Really good production too, so bravo. You can check it out here.
Social media agency That Lot hosted 2 great sessions, first on platform specificity and how content should be crafted across each channel.
The second of their sessions was a masterclass on how to create short copy that is shareable, something easier said than typed. Tips such as keeping tweets to the magic 100 character mark, short punchy sentences using Parataxis (new word for me & Leila) and telling short stories that have surprise humour.
Interesting session on the evolution of language and the rise of the emoji in messaging. Most brands started so cautiously keeping their tone of voice, but have gradually added emojis to their online vocab.

Parataxis! Finally I have a word that sums up what makes successful social content. Basically, short sentences. ☺️ Thanks @thatlot. #SMWLDN
